Lesley is a psychotherapist, an avid nature lover, and a mindfulness practitioner. When she is not working with clients or exploring outdoors, she is often engaging in a mindful activity (such as yoga or meditation). Lesley describes mindfulness as bringing conscious awareness to one’s experience in the present moment with openness and non-judgment. Lesley has facilitated talks and trainings on the benefits of mindfulness for a variety of companies and organizations in the WNY area, most recently including OWM Buffalo. She was previously on the board of the Buffalo Mindfulness Community assisting with its classes and retreats. Lesley began her formal mindfulness practice in college. She ultimately obtained a BA in Contemplative Religions from Naropa University in Boulder, CO, focusing on mystical Judaism and Tibetan Buddhism. During her studies, she learned the value of a contemplative inner practice and experienced the benefits of mindfulness meditation. Lesley went on to complete graduate studies in the counseling field from Medaille College and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. She is the founder of WNY Holistic Counseling, A Whole-Person Approach to Therapy.
In addition to collaborating with OWM Buffalo and offering her mindfulness skills and expertise, Lesley also has a private practice in Amherst, NY. She is passionate about sharing what she has learned with her clients, helping them effectively cope and feel better. In her work, she helps to integrate the whole person, drawing on each person’s strengths, positive qualities, past successes and inner resilience. Her approach is holistic. She addresses all aspects of one’s being: physical, mental, emotional, relational and spiritual. Lesley specializes in stress management, anxiety, depression, relationships, grief/loss, and trauma through the use of holistic, creative and mindfulness-based practices.
